New York’s crab restaurants are boiling hot
Franchise chains offering Cajun-style seafood have scuttled ashore in the five boroughs. With names such as Crab du Jour and Juicy King Crab Express, the spots—mostly takeout but some dine-in—have opened in the city, a reflection of a nationwide appetite for crustaceans.
Across the country, a handful of similar franchises, many started in the South and Southwest, have added Northeastern territories to their location list at a fast clip.
There are now 58 restaurants in the city with the word “crab,” and 17 of them opened just this year.
