New York to be powered by the sun by 2025

New York City government is one step closer to becoming completely powered by renewable energy, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday.

The mayor laid out a series of environmental infrastructure projects, including plans for two transmission lines that will supply the city with wind, solar and hydrogen power from Canada and upstate New York. The projects are aimed at reducing the city’s reliance on fossil fuels and powering 100% of the city’s operations with clean and renewable energy by 2025.
