MTA and Port Authority employees must be vaccinated by Labor Day or submit to weekly testing

All MTA and Port Authority employees will have to be vaccinated by Labor Day or get tested weekly for Covid-19, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday.

“At the MTA, we have no higher priority than the health and safety of our workforce,” said Transit Authority chief Janno Lieber, who joined the governor at a news conference. “The new vaccinate and testing mandate is being introduced to make sure that our employees are as protected as possible against the delta variant, as the city’s and the region’s recovery picks up speed.” He added that 70% of the MTA workforce has been vaccinated.
