The federal government has awarded Henry Schein a $53.4 million contract to store and distribute personal protective equipment and Covid-19-related products for the national stockpile, the Long Island medical distributor announced Wednesday.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services contract calls for the storage and distribution of 80,000 pallets of supplies in support of the strategic national stockpile, which is overseen by the office of the assistant secretary for preparedness and response.
A spokeswoman declined to provide further details about the terms of the contract.
The stockpile’s purpose is to enable the country to quickly respond to public health crises and other emergencies.
