It’s time to get serious with the Penn Station redevelopment

For years, ambitious plans have been in the works to redevelop Pennsylvania Station and the surrounding blocks in Midtown Manhattan, delivering long overdue capacity to the busiest commuter hub in the nation.

 Now that the state budget supports the $1.3 billion Empire Station Complex proposal, it’s time to get serious and advance this plan. A redesigned Penn District is exactly what New York City needs to build back better in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and expand a key central business district that can serve the region.
