Even before the onset of the pandemic, pathways to the middle class were becoming increasingly sparse in our city. During the pandemic, we lost many more middle-class jobs, some of which may never return.
While a comeback from Covid-19 is underway, if we are going to have a truly robust economic recovery, we must look to long-term solutions to encourage middle-class growth. The tech sector represents the most clear and obvious path forward, and in Queens we are committed to seizing the opportunity.
