Cuomo must make houses of worship vaccination sites

Recently, on the National Day of Prayer, faith leaders and elected officials from across New York City rallied at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine to demand that Governor Cuomo designate houses of worship as “essential,” so they can operate as long-term Covid-19 vaccination sites and community health centers.

Speakers at this rally, organized by The Black Institute and the 67th Precinct Clergy Council, highlighted the unique ability of houses of worship to provide COVID vaccines, along with other health services, to hard-to-reach New Yorkers in low-income communities of color.
