Congress's plan to break up big tech could hurt city startups, biz leaders say

The record-breaking run of investment in New York startups could be tripped up by an effort in Congress to curb the power of technology industry giants, city business leaders say. 

An antitrust overhaul advancing in the House of Representatives could cause “irreparable harm to the innovation ecosystem in New York City,” according to a letter sent Friday by the leaders of the five borough chambers of commerce to the city’s Congressional delegation.

The House’s Judiciary committee advanced the legislative package last month, which is aimed at curbing the market dominance of Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple. The overhaul includes six bills, which would bulk up
