Morgan Stanley this week became one of the earliest corporate employers to mandate employees be vaccinated against Covid-19 before returning to the office—potentially prompting other companies throughout the city to set their own policy.
“There has been a wait-and-see approach to this point from employers,” said Kathryn Bakich, the health compliance practice leader at Segal, a human resources consulting firm headquartered in the Flatiron District.
As major companies set policies, other employers will likely start doing the same, although whether they will require vaccines to return to the office will vary greatly by industry, company size and location, experts say.
