LONDON — When Brian Duffy was growing up in the Castlemilk district of Glasgow in the 1960s, he dreamed of owning a Rolex someday.

Since then the 67-year-old chief executive of the Watches of Switzerland Group, Britain’s leading watch retailer by sales, has amassed not just a Rolex but a collection of 20 or so luxury timepieces, including the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph that he wore during a recent interview at the group’s Mayfair offices.
